Fabulous skirt pattern and kit —Make-it-Perfect's A-line skirt

Saffron Craig - Wednesday, October 27, 2010
Funny how the universe seems to act in ways that make me smile. I have been noticing a bit of a street uniform, an a-line skirt worn with a t-shirt and flip flops or clogs. I have found myself being asked by friends and family for a different take on an a-line skirt. Said friend asks "I love a-line skirts but I need a change"?

And you know, here it is—a great variation on the a-line skirt! Toni of Make it Perfect has created just such patterns, the A+ skirt. Who has been whispering in her ear I would like to know?

See the a-line skirts shape is really flattering on most of the population's figures of all ages, it just looks funky and fashionable and it is slimming to boot. It is soo good, it really is! I have already made two for myself. I love the A+ skirt with the pockets so I have somewhere to put my things like keys, phone, toys. In fact I don't buy clothes these days without pockets but that's just me. I am the creative type that is very much in the moment. And pockets help me with those moments! Somewhere to shove stuff into.

These are the skirts Toni made. And thanks Toni for using Saffron Craig fabrics. We really appreciate your support.

So four options for you to sew and create and if you would like another combination please let me know.

Then I sewed up two variations for myself. I altered the pattern a bit and took 3cm from the top of the waistband so that it is a bit shorter and sits below my waist.

I love how the Bird on Leaves  has a bit of an apron feel and I used the Little Birds purple for the waist and pockets for a nice contrast.

That is me wearing the Tree Garden fabric with the Little Birds indigo as the pockets and waist band.

So we've put up 2 kits with these fabric choices or you can choose "email me" and let me know which fabrics you'd like to make this fantastic skirt out of. They all require the same amount of fabric.

» Make it perfect A+ Skirt & fabrics $55.00
» Make it perfect A+ Skirt with pockets & fabrics $65.00

Happy shopping! May your skirt bring you as much happiness and comfort as mine is bringing me.

These are gorgeous - I've made a couple of A lines recently but these are just that bit more fancy! I love make it perfect girls pinny patterns as they are so simple so I look forward to these.

What I'd really love (pretty please) is an A line with pockets and with a pleat at the front to insert a different fabric - a bit like one of the pinny patterns (can't remember which one but I think it was #3?)... Pockets/waistband in same colour but contrast inside the pleat...
