Centimeters and Inches

Saffron Craig - Wednesday, July 01, 2009
Can I just say I love centimeters? I find inches are not for me. Even though I now own all quilting equipment in inches. Why is this? Decimals are so much easier. My brain hurts when it has to keep converting inches back to centimeters. Actually I am amazed at how much maths I do everyday. Yes, I know that wondrous quilting land America is in inches.

Map of the metric system

And this is a map of where the metric system is official...you can read more about it on Wikipedia.

Yes, US please come aboard. I miss my metric. Haven't been able to adapt to this imperial system since I moved from Canada.

Yeah - it took some getting used to - but now I actually prefer inches to be honest ... and I think it's interesting that you said "math" and not "maths" as most Aussies do .... sew many Americanisms sneak into our culture- hey it's the 4th of July on Saturday!!!

I love metric too but don't you know we are ruled by America so everyone must do what they say, even though as your map shows they are in the minority
