I have been working on a new range today. This is a mood board of what I am looking at. Photographs from around my home, plus a few of my sketches that I am drawing for the range. I am hoping with this range it will have distinctly Australian feel, simplistic, bold and rough. Well, that is the way I am drawing at the moment.

I have a feeling this year might be the year of grey for me, I am drawn to lovely shades of grey found in sun-bleached timber, natural linen, old wooden pegs, sandstone as well as the grey tones found in Banksias and gum-nuts of the Australian bush. Though it wouldn't be me now if I did not add some shade of purple or pink so for now I am going with raspberry and plum to complement the shades of grey.
I am very excited about this range as I've been thinking about designing with banksias for a long time. Thankfully my daughter is at a sleep-over so I can make a start. Sip my peppermint tea and draw up some elements.
Would love to read your thoughts!

Those colours are beautiful. I love natural colours with a bit of bright colour added in for zing. Good luck with the concepts.

Anything with natives is a hit with me - and I love the native greys, coral, teal combo. Can't wait for the range.

I cannot speak for everyone here in the US, but my observation is that gray is getting very popular here, too. Lots of fabrics showing up (and selling out) that are gradient shades of gray. Most of them have some natural or organic motif. The grays look so great when they are paired with strong solid colors. Your sketches look very interesting to me. BTW, I love your fabrics!
