Introducing Steiner dolls by Donna

Saffron Craig - Thursday, March 24, 2011
On Etsy one can find so many gems and one such person is Donna, who lives in the bush near a river with her husband and two beautiful children. Just like me, in her spare time Donna likes to sew. She has a love for natural and beautiful fibres and a great respect for the Waldorf philosophies relating to children's play.

Steiner dolls by Donna

Donna has been crafting dolls since she was young and has now been creating Steiner/Waldorf dolls for almost 4 years.

Each doll Donna creates is unique. The hair is made from Australian wool or mohair and is often hand dyed to suit the dolls. Donna hand embroiders the simple features so that the child can create the emotions for the dolls. They have movement in their arms and legs so they are super fun to play with. So sweet, don't you just want to snuggle one?

Being curious I had to to ask Donna why she uses my fabrics and she responded:
"I use your fabrics because they just seem to lend themselves so well to the whimsical nature of my dolls. And I love supporting an Aussie designer."
