Vals thermal baths

Saffron Craig - Monday, August 10, 2009
Vals Therme spa is a 3 hour journey from Zurich. The train ride was so beautiful through steep valleys of alps scattered with water falls that seem to be 500 meters tall and lush green grass, through amazing scenery that is only to be found in Switzerland.
At Vals we relished the hot water and soaked in the rich thermal springs. The pools varied in temperatures from 14 degrees to 42.The renowned architect Peter Zumthor has done an incredible job of creating a magical, inspiring and healing space. I felt so lucky.

I could only take pictures outside. Imagine this in winter surrounded by snow as it is surrounded by mountains. We got lucky with a wonderful sunny day.

This is the view we looked at as we soaked in the pools.

A picture from the website of the interior.

Wow! The spa looks fantastic and the little town (in the other post) looks very fairytale like *grabs pencil and sketchbook*
